Hi there everybody!
I'm skekLa, originally made a Co-founder by the true founder of this group, who has recently and duddenly passed me the lead since she could not administer it any longer.
Sadly, I have a quite tight schedule and a workload to attend, and not enough time to administer a group, so finding myself in this position, I thought it would be sensible to invite any member who'd wish to take the reins and become the new founder of this group to send me a Note on my profile and take the lead. Anyone interested is cordially invited to become this group's admin and founder!
Please, let me know your thoughts, and excuse my null activity on the group.
Thanks, in advance!

The Family TreeAfter several weeks living with the Changá Hrairoo’s wounds began to heal, leaving scars that not even Chano, the village’s doctor, was able to treat. But that didn’t matter much to Hrairoo. He was alive and getting better by the day. He was grateful, he knew that if it wasn’t for the pod people he would be dead or worse. The podlings were good to him. Chimi, the grumpy polding who had found him almost dead in the forest was very attentive. Not only did Chimi care for his health but fed him the best food he had ever tasted. Whatever weight Hrairoo had lost after the attack in the forest he put back quickly with Chimi’s stews and sweets. Cucho -Chimi’s bespectacled partner- mostly kept to themselves but was always sure to know everything that was happening around the village. Bam -Cucho and Chimi’s child- was curious, but kept a prudent distance. Bam seemed happy to have Hrairoo around.“Xadi!” asked Bam “Why does Hrairoo have wings? I’ve never seen a gelfling with wings!” “That’s because Hrairoo is a girl” Chimi explained “You may have only seen gelfling boys” Chimi replied matter of factly. “Actually…” Hrairoo begged to differ “I’m a boy” he corrected.“But…” Chimi raised their head slightly puzzled “I’ve seen beneath your bandages. You have what makes a girl, not a boy!” Hrairoo put up an annoyed face “My family made that mistake too. They thought I was a girl, but I’m a boy” He replied.“Oh” Chimi made a pensive pause. “What Jairu said!” they told Bam. Chimi wouldn’t pretend to know more about gelflings than a gelfling himself.“Can I ask something too?” Hrairoo lowered his ears humbly.“Ask away, gelfling!” Chimi said cheerfully.“Everyone calls you podlings, pod people… But… The elders said you live in pods, and these are huts” Hrairoo meant Chimi’s house and the rest in the village. Chimi put on a puzzled face. “You… you thought we lived in pods? Pods?” Chimi laughed out loud. “How could we even-” Chimi laughed so hard they couldn’t finish the sentence. Cucho seemed more understanding. “Want to see our pods?” they invited Hrairoo out of the hut. Hrairoo nodded though unsure. He didn’t say anything rude, did he? “Can I come too?” Bam asked with enthusiasm. Cucho nodded. “Don’t take too long. The food will be ready soon” Chimi shook a wooden spoon in the air menacingly. Hrairoo stepped outside the hut with Cucho as Bam sprinted before them. Chimi and Cucho’s hut was pretty similar to the others in the village, a round cabin made out of whatever material was around. Some had more stones in them, others had more wood and most included mud. In the center of the village a massive tree could be seen, sheltering several houses beneath its canopy. As they came closer to the tree Hrairoo could see it was adorned with colorful ropes and ribbons and there were several stairs built around it. He could also feel a nice and fresh scent that surely came from the tree’s large yellow flowers. “You see” Cucho said as they watched over Bam from afar “We podlings don’t come to this world like gelflings do” Hrairoo listened while looking up at the large tree. “You are born from your mothers, don’t you?” Cucho asked.“Of course” Hrairoo said matter of factly. He looked back at Cucho. Did Cucho mean podlings don’t? That’s when he noticed Bam staring right at him.“I know what a mother is!” Bam interrupted “But… How can you be born from one?” they thought out loud “How does the baby gelfling get in?” Bam tried hard to imagine it. Hrairoo took a long breath wondering how to explain, but the excited little podling had already ran away to play somewhere else. “I don’t think Bam cares for the answer” Cucho laughed at the child. “See that couple?” Cucho pointed at two podlings who had climbed the stairs. Hrairoo could see them clearly. Each held the end of an orange ribbon while cupping one of the large flowers. “What are they doing?” “They’re tying the knot” Cucho replied.“Oh, they’re getting married?” Hrairoo raised his ears cheerfully, though he thought it was strange. Knowing how podlings are, he expected a big party. “No!” Cucho replied “They’re asking the tree for a baby” Hrairoo knew podlings were very spiritual creatures. Fruit comes after flowers, it made sense for the podlings to pray to their tree while holding one. “When the Family Tree is flowering, families-to-be claim one to themselves by tying a ribbon on it” Cucho described what the podling couple was doing. “If the tree answers their prayers a pod will grow from that flower” Cucho formed a circle with their hands. “And before the cold season comes the pod with ripen, and the baby will come out from it”.“The babies… all podlings... grow from a tree?” Hrairoo was bewildered.“Not just one, of course” Cucho kept explaining. “Each clan has their own Family Tree. We podlings make villages around our trees. This one belongs to the Changá” Cucho came closer to touch the trunk with their hand. “Then… everyone in this village came from this tree?” Hrairoo kept asking.“Not everyone. Some podlings came from other villages. Not everyone lives their whole life in just one place” Hrairoo understood. His clan was nomadic after all. He kept staring. He couldn’t help but notice that while several flowers sported ribbons of all kinds and colours, others did not. “There are so many flowers!” Hrairoo observed “The village will be brimming with babies next season!” “No, no. The tree always makes more flowers than we can claim” Cucho made a stopping gesture “That’s why we cut the flowers without ribbons when the second brother is at its highest” “You cut unclaimed flowers?”“Yes. Many unclaimed flowers don’t become pods at all… But when they do it’s a problem” Cucho said with a sad voice.Hrairoo understood. Gelflings usually had many babies, but gelflings usually wanted many babies. «You can't feed everyone, right?»«It's not that simple» Cucho explained a bit more. «Perhaps we could feed them all...that doesn't mean we can raise them all» Cucho made a pause and looked around. They only continued when Bam was spotted running not far from them. «Every child deserves not only food, but time. Some villages are against cutting unclaimed flowers, can you believe?»Hrairoo could, but wanted to know more. «When you live in one of those villages you can't say no» Cucho said with a certain severity. «You have to raise every baby the Family Tree produces, whether you want to or not. Hrairoo placed his hand on his chin «But doesn't everyone want babies? At some point?»«At some point. Or no point at all» Cucho shrugged. «Some podling want to see Thra before they settle. Some are not ready. Others would rather just have pets. You don't give babies to podlings who want pets, I tell you!»«It's hard staying in those villages!» an old podling with graying hair and a walking stick joined their conversation.«Chama knows» Cucho introduced the older podling. «Chama was born in one».Hrairoo greeted the podling with curious eyes, he wanted to know more.«My village was beautiful» Chama told them «Our Family Tree was huge! But the village was always busy, always noisy, and you couldn't keep up with who was who. I barely knew the names of my siblings”.Hrairoo remembered when his grandmother assisted the birth of triplets a couple of trines ago and everyone had to help with the babies. That's when Hrairoo learned how to change diapers. “Got the pod outta there as soon as I was of age!” Chama laughed loudly. “I’d rather be called a pod murderer than raise childlings I never agreed to”. Hrairoo’s eyes widened “Murderer, but why?” the gelfling took the accusation to heart.“That’s what those villages call us for cutting unclaimed flowers” Cucho didn’t take it seriously. Chama said goodbye and walked away. Hrairoo was left pensive. Podlings were so different from gelflings! Why was he never taught about that?“Say…” Hrairoo had so many questions “So that’s how you had Bam? You claimed a flower and you waited?”Cucho laughed somewhat nervously “No. Bam was... special”Hrairoo’s head bent sideways. Cucho was right, of all the podlings he had met at the Changá village, no one was named like Bam. Perhaps that’s what Cucho meant?“You see, our Family tree is big. Very tall” Cucho pointed upwards. “We do a great job cutting unclaimed flowers every season. But once in a while we... miss one” he seemed a bit embarrassed. Cucho was right, it was a massive tree. Hrairoo looked at the upper branches and could see himself flying that high, but how would the podling manage without wings? “Bam came from an unclaimed flower?” Hrairoo lowered his voice, hoping he wasn’t saying something inappropriate. “Sometimes flowers don’t deliver a pod and that’s normal” Cucho explained “Sad for parents-to-be, but normal. Others we miss a flower or two. Sometimes those flowers, they wither. Sometimes they deliver a pod”. Hrairoo painted a lovely picture in his head, with parents-to-be whose flowers had withered were joined with the pods from unclaimed, uncut flowers. “Sometimes -very, very rare occasions- a huge unclaimed pod falls on top of your head and you just become a parent” Cucho smiled.“A POD FELL ON YOUR HEAD?” Hrairoo didn’t mean to, but raised his voice.“Not mine. Chimi’s” Hrairoo covered his mouth with his hand in awe.“Chimi recovered soon enough” Cucho decided to skip mentioning the time Chimi was unconscious from the concussion. “We were already thinking about tying the knot so we felt like we didn’t claim a flower, but a pod had claimed us!” Hrairoo smiled as he listened to Cucho telling about the size of Bam’s pod and how fast he grew. He remembered Maudra Gair telling the clanspeople about their births. How did she manage to remember each and every one? Would he be able to do so someday?Hrairoo didn’t feel like thinking about it and was glad Bam returned with a large branch he brandished as a sword against imaginary spitters. “You leave spitters alone. We don’t fight the arathim in this village, we have a truce!” Chimi told Bam as they returned to the house and sat down to eat.Hrairoo almost spat his food “A truce? With the arathim?” Were those podlings out of their mind?“You gelfling fight too much” Chimi dismissed Hrairoo’s idea in a matter of factly voice. “We podling talk things out” At that point Hrairoo noticed he had never seen a podling warrior. Sentries at most. “It must be easy when you can talk to every living creature in Thra” he did know that about podlings. “Even easier when you convince them that podling flesh is poisonous” Chimi raised a glass proposing a toast. “Podling flesh is poisonous?” Hrairoo asked a bit embarrassed, a bit worried. “Would you want to find out?” Cucho laughed as the four of them joined their glasses in toast. The stew was amazing, but Hrairoo couldn’t wait for dessert....
