The Age of Wonder Part 2 - A Skeksis Fic“Now, you must stay close to me, you recall?”
SkeSept, as he had been dubbed from the shred of memory he’d clung to since his birth, stared at the Illustrator in continued puzzlement. But she supposed she was alright with it – she’d repeated that several times and it wasn’t unlike dealing with a podling. A rather smart, tall one that SkekEkt had yet to bundle into full robes.
The garments the boy had on would do, for now, they all supposed. He’d gone without any carapace or collar, but seemed to like his baggy sleeves. With his hair neatly (and rather painfully) pulled back into braids, he appeared far tidier indeed. But SkekLa couldn’t help but hide a smile as she sat at her desk, quill in hand. Without a mane, the little thing looked rather silly.
She supposed he’d grow one. How fascinating.
Noticing how intently he was watching her, the Illustrator smiled softly and, instead of begging a project, instead traced a very simple sket

Chapter 6: The Confrontation
skekTah was sore. His back ached like nothing he had ever felt before. His bones creaked and cracked as he struggled to his feet. Pain sang through every fiber of his being.
He could feel the weakness setting in from not participating in the morning sun ceremony. Even the slightest movement brought pain now. A few steps had him gasping with exertion.
The Schemer feared that he would be unable to return to the castle like this. He could never hope to get back before the Great Conjunction or the Gelfling.
If he failed to warn anyone…and skekSil failed to capture the Gelfling…they would be doomed…
It took far more effort than skekTah had ever had to exert in many hundreds of trine just to get to the archway that he had come in through last night. The suns were barely peeking over the horizon. There was several hours still before the Great Conjunction would commence.
He’d be luck
Bonds Chapter OneIn the Castle of the Crystal, the lit torches brightened the dark hallways. However it didn’t lift the ghostly aura leaking through the cold bricks. Then footsteps filled them, making the fire light flicker as the figure passed. It was a skeksis, decorated in elaborate robes of black, dark blue, and white. The pale grey skin which could be seen was wrinkled with age.
Suddenly she stopped, turning her bulgy navy blue eyes to the left. A small chuckle escaped the creature’s beak-like mouth. “You really shouldn’t slink in the shadows SkekCen. The others would think you were spying,” she said in a silky voice. SkekCen came into view, stone blue eyes half opened. He was much taller than the other, exactly by two heads. His skin was much darker than hers as well. His robes mainly consisted of dark grey, black, and gold. One could tell he was a warrior just by looking at his face full of scars.
“I was seeing why you left the feast so early. It is not like y
Thra was at its darkest, all three suns sleeping until the dawn. The world was also at its most dangerous. All knew one would die a horrible death if they didn’t find shelter before the last sun fell behind the horizon. This thought screamed in the mind of a certain person as they sprinted across the dry and cracked ground.
‘Must keep running! Must keep running!’
Even though the creature seemed old and frail, he was fit for long sprints like this. Fear added extra boost as he was heard howling near him. Suddenly he tripped, gasping in shock and pain as he rolled across the dirt. He felt a throbbing in his knee. He hissed as he touched it, feeling something wet on his fingers.
He knew predators would be attracted to the scent of blood. With the little clothes he had left, the being ripped a shred off his sleeve and tied it around his wound. He started to run again, feeling slight pain. Luckily it was just a scrape and nothing more. He t
